Lift To Play – Update

BCWA may have an exciting opportunity to set up in front of the South Point (South Surrey) Save-On-Foods to promote and raise funds for “Lift to Play” as well as put on a demo of out sport and promote BCWA. It is yet to be confirmed, as well as the date/time, but it would be for a few hours during either Saturday or Sunday. If you think you would be able to help out, start thinking about it and let me know. I’ll get back to you with details when I have them.

BC Senior Championships

The BC Senior Championships are coming up shortly. For those first time qualifiers it is important that you understand that unlike some of our more “minor” competitions, proper weightlifting attire, in compliance with IWF regulations is required. This competitions is also SUBJECT TO DOPING CONTROL. It is important that you review and understand BCWA’s anti-doping policy which you agreed to when registering with BCWA.

Christine Girard 7th at Worlds

Congratulations to Christine Girard for her performance at the World Weightlifting Championships in Paris, France. Christine finished 7th overall with a 105kg snatch and 133kg C&J in the 63kg class. Her 133kg C&J was also a Canadian records. Christine also finished 5th in the Olympic qualification event, earning valuable points for team Canada. Hopefully her performance along with the other Canadian girls will be enough to earn Canada 3 woman’s spots for the Olympics.
